A collective complaint has been registered by Confederazione Unitaria di Base (CUB) relating to Articles 1 (the right to work), 4 (the right to a fair remuneration), 12 (the right to social security) and 30 (the right to protection against poverty and social exclusion) of the revised European Social Charter.

CUB alleges that Italy is in breach of the aforementioned provisions of the Charter, by failing to provide for any form of universal basic income or legal minimum wage level, despite the high rates of poverty and social exclusion among the population, as well as an increasing number of workers with an income below the poverty threshold.

A decision on admissibility is to be expected in the coming months.
