In July 2022, Ukraine and the United Kingdom ratified the Istanbul Convention, becoming respectively the 36th and 37th states to do so. The convention will enter into force on the 1st of November 2022 in both countries.

Ratification of the Convention places an obligation on the state to address gender-based violence fully in all its forms and to take measures to prevent violence against women, protect its victims and prosecute the perpetrators.
