The draft "Organic Law on Parity of Representation in Decision-Making Bodies" (Anteproyecto de Ley Orgánica de representación paritaria de mujeres y hombres en los órganos de decisión) aims to meet the UN 2030 Agenda goal of ensuring that women and girls have the same opportunities as men and boys in employment, leadership and decision-making at all levels. The law also transposes Directive (EU) 2022/2381 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 November 2022 on improving the gender balance among directors of listed companies and related measures. In practical terms, the law establishes the objective of 40% female participation in public and private management bodies.
